The longer you simmer the vanilla citrus cider, the more intense the flavors will be. Keep this in mind while you prepare your cider.

Ingredients

Apple cider   8 cups

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup concentrated orange juice

1/8 teaspoon of salt

3 cloves of cinnamon

1 teaspoon of whole cloves

1/4 teaspoons of Vanilla extract

4 slices of orange

Preparation

  • Combine the salt, orange juice concentrate, brown sugar, and apple cider in a large saucepan before adding the cloves and cinnamon sticks to a double-layered cheesecloth.
  • Before adding the entire thing to a pan, fold over the cheesecloth's corners to enclose the seasonings and tie them tightly with a string.
  • After bringing the mixture to a boil, lower the heat and let it simmer uncovered for an additional hour.
  • After removing the spice bag, add the vanilla and serve with complimentary orange slices.

Conclusion

At room temperature, citrus fruits only last a few days, but they last for several weeks in the refrigerator. Just be careful not to attempt to store fruit that has been peeled or zested. Citrus fruits' oil-filled peel serves as a moisture barrier to keep the interiors from drying out.
