Dr Vanilla Impact

At Dr Vanilla, we believe that investing in education and environmental stewardship creates the foundation for long-term, sustainable progress. In partnership with the JHA Fund, our efforts in 2023 and 2024 have reached deep into the Sava region of Madagascar.

Environmental Education

Kit Mad'ERE Workshop

In 2023, Dr Vanilla proudly sponsored a Kit Mad'ERE workshop, training 16 elementary school teachers in Antalaha North. This hands-on environmental education program empowers educators to teach sustainable practices using a specialized kit that covers subjects like art, geography, and teamwork.

Feedback from the field was overwhelmingly positive with increased student engagement, schoolyard cleanups, tree-planting, and daily eco-focused activities. The village of Antsamankely emerged as a standout, making daily use of the workshop and encouraging a culture of environmental awareness.

2024 Expansion

Reaching New Districts

In 2024, the program expanded significantly, reaching new districts such as Tananambo, Lanjarivo, Ambarabahy, and Morafeno. These follow-up workshops helped to strengthen the program's regional impact across the Sava region.

Infrastructure Development

A New School in Antsamankely

Motivated by the village of Antsamankely's enthusiastic adoption of environmental education, Dr Vanilla co-sponsored the construction of a permanent, cyclone-resistant school in this remote, forested village.

Completed in early 2024, the two-classroom structure replaced a fragile, plant-material building that often flooded during Madagascar's rainy season. Constructed from durable wood and corrugated metal roofing, the school provides a dry, safe, and supportive learning environment for over 100 students.

Community Partnership

Collaborative Effort

Some of these supplies traveled over 11 hours by truck, then by canoe and foot to reach the village. But this collaborative effort, supported by villagers who helped gather rocks and water for construction, stands as a symbol of shared hope and community determination.

Looking Ahead

2025 Plans

As we move into 2025, we plan to continue supporting the JHA Fund in their efforts to host new teacher workshops and follow-ups, and expand eco-tourism education programs through Macolline.

At Dr Vanilla, we are honored to play a role in this mission. Our support doesn't end with a single donation. It lives on in classrooms, teacher training, student field trips, and every child who learns to care for our planet.

Building More Than Schools

Together, we are building a future where education and environmental stewardship thrive hand in hand.
